Hi, this is my first build, and I only have the CPU left to buy. I've had my eye on the Phenom II x4 955 BE (3.2ghz) for a while

but l realized that I could buy a Phenom II x6 1055 (2.8ghz) for only 60$ more.

I will be mostly using this computer for gaming, internet, movies, etc. and I like shopping from newegg.ca. I have little interest in overclocking, so the black edition isn't necessary. I've heard that with gaming, clock speed is "better" than more cores, but this x6 processor has "Turbo CORE" (automatically switches from six cores to three turbocharged core for applications that just need raw speed over multiple cores.) Would I be better off spending $60 more for the 6 core? Will it add longevity to my build? Or will the x4 3.2Ghz be better in my case? Thanks for your guys' help! (It would also be cool to have the bragging rights as the only one of my friends to have a 6 core :p)

P.S. The rest of my build is ...

1080p 23" Monitor
XFX Radeon HD 5770 Video Card
MSI 890FXA-GD70 (for $119.99!!!) Mobo
CPU-N/A
Gskill 2x2GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM

other non-relevant parts

Solution
I'd save the $60 and put it into a little more powerful graphics card like the GTX 460. Or you could drop down to a 945 and get an HD 5850.

Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy, any it won't make much difference in any case (maybe a 10% difference)

He does not have an unlocked multiplier on that CPU so for future cards he would be overclocking with more ease the 955.
The six core does not really help you only if you do video/photo editing. I also say buy a quad.

Thanks for the replies! I'm definitely not getting a 945 'cause its only 2$ less than the 955, which is kinda weird ... AND the 955 has free shipping opposed to the 4.99 shipping on the 945. So I'm probably gonna get the 955 BE. Thanks again!
