Phenom II x4 955 on AM2+ board or Phenom II x4 945 on AM3 board ?????

I can purchase two systems (ZT Systems, Affinity) very closely priced. One system uses an AM2+ mboard and an AMD Phenom IIx4 955 with 8 gig of ddr2. The other system has an AM3 board with an AMD Phenom IIx4 945 with 8 gig of DDR3 (1333MHz). Would I be better off with the AM3 mboard and a slightly slower cpu or should I go with the 955 on the older mboard? I'm not a gamer and I don't really use any programming that requires such a powerful cpu. My concern is upgrades down the road to keep up with traffic.

go with the am3 board, the cpu speed difference will more than be made up for by the increase in memory bandwidth plus AM3 is the newest socket from AMD. as AM2 gets phased out this will offer the best upgrade path imo.

What are the Video cards on the 2 systems ?? - after the CPU that is the component that will effect the performance the most (if not more important than the CPU) - If they are also about the same then the AM3 would be the way to go.

Go for a slower CPU with a good motherboard because you can overclock the processor or replace it..since AMD will use the AM3 socket for a long time now....it's better to have some upgrade options

Am3 is the better option newer processors will go on it and it also supports ddr3

if u can I would consider an am3+ motherboard... and you can still use an am3 cpu if needed but this will offer a little room to grow in future...
