Phenom ii x4 or core i5 2500 for gaming

hi there,i need help deciding on a cpu for my new system,my chioce is between the AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black Edition or the intel Core i5 2500..the price here in australia is almost the same,my gpu will most likely be a 6950 2gig ATI..psu a antec true power 750 watt..please help me decide which cpu best suits my needs...thanks in advance

Look at the prices for the motherboards.
I'd be willing to bet that even if the I5 2500 is roughly the same at the X4 975 Black... the AMD motherboards are probably cheaper.

The performance between the two is close enough that I would build two systems next to each other on paper and then go w/ the cheaper one.

970 vs 2500K (no 2500 but in essense it's the same)

AMD got spanked by a dual core on a few of those games. :lol:

If I owned that company I would fire every and all engineers on the spot. It's pretty bad when your 6 core cpu gets waxed by an i3
