Also worth noting that if you crossfire a 4830 with a 4870 it will essentially downgrade the 4870 to a 4830 to it'll be the same as having two 4830s.
Generally best to crossfire matching cards.

I had a bottleneck with the Phenom x4 9850 OCed @ 2.96GHz with 2 9800GTX+ video cards. I had all sorts of stuttering and all when running over 2 accounts of Shadowbane in large group play.

I ran SB last night with the 4-cored 720BE and just 1 9800...and not a stutter one. Good stuff.

So I'd say you probably would since the 4870s are so much more than what I have.

That doesn't give me much confidence in the decision I made to go ATI in my next build

Question 1: What resolution do you play at? Unless your on a huge monitor, (1680x1050 and up) dual GPU doesnt really pay off. Infact at 1680x1050 I would just get a 4870 1GB and enjoy. You only really need more at higher rez.

Ill probably just add on another 4830 then, or just go with replacing the 4830 with a 4870 1gb. Considering the 4830 is all I have.

I'm only going for 3.1ghz because I'm playing it safe and I'm not gonna go extreme with the oc. I dont want to risk any trouble at all. I might go for higher once I get an aftermarket cooler this summer.
