Philips monitor does not detect digital signal

Hi All

I just bought a monitor Philips 223V5LSB. I took it because in the description it said there was a DVI port, I am relying on the onboard graphics and my motherboard has only digital output (hdmi and DVI-D).
When I opened the box I found out the monitor had only a VESA cable, I went to look for a DVI cable, but nowhere I could find a cable with both plugs DVI-D, eventually I bought a cable HDMI to DVI-D.
I plugged the cable into the monitor and switched on. The monitor said "No video input" and went to sleep mode.
I tried to search for information in the manuals, but nowhere it says how to switch from analog to digital signal, I assume it should be detected automatically by the monitor, but it doesn't work.
The on screen menu doesn't work either, if I switch it on the first menu that appears is the language choice, but when I press the OK button it goes to sleep mode. I suspect that it need a video signal as well to setup things like brightness and color.

At this point I got no idea about what to try next.
Thanks in advance for any help,

do you have a gpu in system other then the onboard and i would try it with a dvi-d cable on another system

I tried. Everything I have is around is digital. If I can set the digital mode only via an analogue signal I'm in trouble.

Small update. I tried to ask for help via the so called "Philips Troubleshooting Tool" (a service portal for consumers). But it does not work either. If I post a question to their "AI" it only returns answers about Android TVs and if I try to send an email I get an error.

I'll add the final update since someone might end up on this page after some googling.
Eventually after trying everything I had to buy a video card because the monitor works only with a proper video card. You can connect it either via the DVI or the VGA cable, but with the digital output of the motherboard graphics or HDMI output from a laptop it does not work (so you cannot use it as a second monitor for a modern laptop).

The settings on page 6 of the manual the user scout_03 referred to is not actually set by the user. The monitor detects it automatically and then it is just shown in the page that appeared in the picture.
So the monitor has "optional DVI" and it has a DVI port, but it works only if you have a video card with both VGA and DVI output and I have to say that I didn't understand at all the point of it. Anyway the worst point, the one that caused me to waste three days, is that the documentation is insufficient (in some points even misleading) and support nonexistent.
