Philips P180?

I'm considering the Philips P180. Their info page is here:

There is a leaflet with tech specs, but I don't know much about this so I was wondering if anyone who knows more could glance at it and tell me what they thought.

Better yet, has anyone used one and could tell me what it's like?

I'd be using for games (mostly first-person shooters), programming, DVDs, and general-purpose stuff.

I see there was a Philips monitor in the new 17" test, but I've no idea if it's comparable.

They're mostly extremely positive, except for ones that sound like they're not using the right res. A couple of them say games work fine.

Doesn't 50 ms seem a bit high for a modern professional monitor? The ones in Tom's review of 17" ones are mostly 25 or 40.

The contrast ratio seems a bit too low I guess as well, just says "250".

I know which monitor u meant, and yes 50ms is very high. Honestly, "professional" is just a markting scheme in many cases. Don't go for it, it's crap.

don't take the philips. Its just too bad.
If you need a LCD monitor for professional applications take an EIZO or NEC monito and you'll get the full range of color management which is quite expensive to realize on the digital level DVI. Otherwise take Samsung.

Eizo and NEC 18 inchers don't have the best of response times sadly.
