Photo Editing RAM requierments

Hi, I have been in to photography for a while but I want to start taking them in RAW. I have chosen photoshop and lightroom, Adobe recemended 8GBs of RAM but than there are people saying you 16 to 32 GO plus a scratch disk.
How much RAM do I really need and do I need a scratch disk? Any help would be apreceated.

16GB is a sweet spot. Scratch disk is fine, but you don't really need it.

8gb is enough but 16gb is so cheap nowadays. You don't need 32gb RAM unless you are a professional and this is part of your job.

16GB should do fine, could even use a portion of it as a RAM disk for your scratch disk....If doing a lot - might give 32GB a look. DRAM prices are rather reasonable at the moment 😉
