Physically connect PC to blu-ray player to stream desktop on TV?

I have a blu-ray player connected via HDMI cable to my TV (which is not a smart TV). I have a windows 10 PC that can cast to the player so I can use my TV as a second monitor for my PC.

I've tried doing this wirelessly and wired on my network (both the PC and player) but both options can lag pretty badly. Is there some way I can physically connect my PC to my blu-ray player to accomplish this?

I have a Sony s3700 blu-ray player, which only has a USB, HDMI, and LAN 100 port (it also can connect wirelessly to the internet). Would a different Blu-ray player have the ability to do this? I've looked but haven't seen anything.

No, nothing heavy like gaming on that TV. Just the ability to play my movies on my PC over on the TV and browse the web on PC at the same time.

Again - this feature on your BD player is made for streaming, so "lagging" should be of no concern..
