not true the r9 390 spikes and drops a lot. the gtx 970 a more stable higher average fps.

so indeed for 1080p only get the gtx 970
I'd get the the 390 personally. I've been full gambit this generation, 970, 970 sli, 390x, 980ti, and finally I got my Fury. The Nvidia's seem to have less frame drops, but for whatever reason the graphics look washed out compared to the AMD cards. Honestly, the diff between the 970 and the 390x was noticable, but if you are playing at 1080p it's going to make a very small, irrelevant difference.

This is true, but it's not by such a margin as it was with the 290 models. The 390 models are much quieter, and though not as power efficient, still very capable cards.

In reality they are almost identical. The 390 pulls ahead, but if you are buying a 1440p+ monitor you likely aren't buying these cards regardless.

So what you guys are saying is that if i only play 1080p i should get GTX970?

I am thinking about buying this ASUS VG248QE - 24″ 1ms 3D 144Hz Full-HD, as my samsung monitor is pretty old now

The 970 is at a very good price right now. On newegg you can get a blower model for only $260 after rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133620&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= probably one of the best non black Friday or cyber deals that I have seen for this card.

The brand dosent matter? Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac - the price where i live is the same, what i have read so far is that MSI is the best GTX970 card, but what do you guys think ?

If they are the same price then get the msi for sure. it does have the best reviews.
Personally i have the Asus 970 because it was $40 cheaper than the msi at the time
