>I always thought the 13500 is the best bang for buck as opposed to the 13400. More cores higher clocks, and for sweet FA on top. Essentially a 12600k with a new name.
Yep, 13500 was my sweet spot, but that's only true for the RCP (tray price) at ~$220'ish. At launch, price was ~$285, which subsequently settled at ~$250 for a long while (cf Amazon price history below). I expect ~$210 will be the regular price going forward, in line with drops on other non-K parts.
>For gaming the DDR4 option is 10-20% slower than DDR5.
If you had read reviews, DDR4-vs-5 perf is a bit more complicated. In many games, DRAM speed has minimal impact.
>Might as well go the 7600/7600x route to get slightly better gaming, slightly worse applications, and less power consumption when both are DDR5.
For non-gaming: 13500 simply kills 7600/X on multi-core perf. Plus the added appeal of cheaper RAM & board.
For gaming, I'd opt for 13400, not 13500 or 7600/X.
