Pics and vids on USB drive won't open.

How do i fix corrupt pics and vids on a usb drive? The correct icons are there but when I try to open up the pic or vid, I get an error message stating the file format in not recognized or it is corrupt. I copied the files over to my hard drive and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Were these files just sitting there on the drive and used to work fine? If you check the size, are they normal size for the format? Meaning you don't have a 30 minute video and it's 1 MB in size or some other silly size.
