picture won't fill entire screen

For some reason, my entire monitor isn't filled up. There is a black bar at the bottom of my screen that is about an inch in width and is as long as the monitor. I've tried changing the resolution, but the highest it will go is 1440x900.

Any idea what could be wrong?

The card I am using is an Intel(r) HD graphics family. The monitor is a Dell SE198WFP. The monitor is connected via VGA (D-sub)

Right click screen resolution on desktop and choose what it will work with should be ample amount of settings

Try re-installing or updating your Intel HD graphics driver....this could probably work

and you won't find any higher resolution than 1440x900 since your monitor's native resolution is 1440x900
