Hello,

What would be the increase in performance from Piledrive over intel core 2 or any one know any test with comparison?

Thanks

Q9550 gets beaten by an i3 3225 in games and most application situations. Your Q8300 is a good deal slower yet. An FX 6300 bumped to FX 6350 beats i3 3225 in games and apps. @ 4.5ghz it is just under a 3570k at stock. All it takes to turn an FX 6300 into an FX 6350 clock speed wise is change the multiplier from 17.5 to 19.5.

I'm planning to build micro atx pc so is it better to go for FX-6300 Black Edition or go for slightly more expensive 6350 Black Edition (black edition is apparently 5% faster) or Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge)

Or any other recommendations, I think in terms of micro atx AMD based mobs are better.

thanks

6300, no point getting the 6350 as its more expensive and all you need to do is bump the multiplier to get the same speeds (as logainofhades said). 6300 will be better than the i3 in multithreaded apps at least, probably better in single-threaded ones.

Not if you get a Micro-ATX case with proper airflow and a proper CPU cooler. Any particular reason why it has to be Micro-ATX?

I have Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme. Unfortunately I need to downgrade to smaller case something like bitfenix phenom.
My wife give me choice, laptop or matx.
I though getting rid of xps 720 case would be satisfying, apparently not, now even my mid is too big.
