Hi all,

Just started out on VATSim, after the release of the new SB3-client..
What a difference... Wow..! The ATC almost seems intelligent now.. ;-))

Everything is fine.. Flying, communicating and all...
But now I have started to wonder, if I later would benefit from having
logged some details of my flights online.

So, at first I thought I just would set up a spreadsheet with the necessary
data for each flight, and that should be it..
But... what kind of data would be relevant to record? Of course departure-
and arrival-airport.. and flighttime... and date...
But what about the route? and fuel?? and...???
Should I made it part of a flight-plan extended with extra space to make
notes of the above??
Hmm.. what about a software-based logbook..?? Is that available..?

What or how do you do (if you do...)?? All of you mighty pilots out there
(sim or RL)... 😱)

Mikael,

I use the logbook that came as part of the Cessna Private Pilot training
kit.

Each "-" is a distinct cloumn...

- Date
- Model Of Aircraft (C172SP, etc)
- Aircraft Registration #
- From (Departure Point)
- To (Destination)
- Remarks, Procedures, Maneuvers
- Landings (Day/Night)
- # of Instrument Approaches Flown
- SEL (Single Engine Land)
- MEL (Multi Engine Land)
- BLANK (For Write In)
- BLANK (For Write In)
- Night (Hours flown between sunset and sunrise)
- Actual Instrument
- Simulated Instrument
- Flight Training Device (PC Sim, FlightSafety International, etc)
- Flight Training (Dual Instruction Received)
- Solo / PIC
- Cross Country
- BLANK (For Write In)
- Total Duration of Flight

At the bottom of each cloumn is a space to tabulate that page's totals, a
space for carrying over the previous page's totals and a space for a sum
total for when that page is full. This number gets carried over to the next
as the amount forwarded.
There is also an area to sign and date each page attesting to it's veracity.

I have a software logbook program on my computer that will also allow me to
keep tabs on things like plane-rental expenses, per diem (if I were a
professional pilot), tach time out/in (if I were an owner and wanted to
track hours for maintainance purposes), but YOU can create a spreadsheet
with anything you would want to add for sim flight.

Hi Jay,

Thanks for your reply.
This would give me something to start on...

But I think I would expand it a bit...
Making room for notes of the time from requesting initial clearing to be
ready for departure.
And from "vacated the runway" to "parked at gate"...
