Edit: not the adapter you need, still looking.
Thank you so much for trying to help. I'm probably seeing what you see. The direction of the signal is reversed on this adaptor. I took a look to find one that's from HDMI to DP. There's ones that have a USB and the HDMI that plugs to the computer and the DP that goes to the VR headset. The first one I looked at even stated it is not for use with VR head sets. I started to look at others but they don't even mention anything about VR head sets. I'm so stumped. I bought this laptop for $2K on a great sale. It has great hardware. But, I bought it for VR head sets.

I wanted to let you know that I've found out my laptop has a USB-C port that supports DP output. My USB-C port has that symbol ( D ) that represents the capability of Display Port. I'm looking for an adaptor that will work between my Laptop and my VR Pimax 5K.

Looking for adaptor going from USB-C (DP) to a display port on my VR Pimax 5K headset.
I'm finding these adaptors but having trouble finding something that has a refresh rate fast enough. 60hz isn't fast enough. I'm looking for something over 120hz.

I think the issue you're going to have is that the headset won't be recognized properly after the conversion. I don't know - in the past I used an active HDMI to DP adapter without issue, but that's going the other way.
That's good to know.
I guess I'll try the HDMI to DP like you did and I'll pick up the USB-C to DP and give both of them a try. I'm guessing that won't fry anything. It might take a few days to get these adaptors. After I get them and test I'll post the results.

Thanks for your advice.
