ping inconsistency fiber internet cable

hie guys, i am new to fiber internet connection and got a new connection this week ,but the ping is inconsistent when i check via cmd with ping command eg: ping www.google.com -t i can see ping is sometime is as low as 3ms and next it spikes to 100 or 200 ,but the internet office just 100meters away from my home and i checked there in their pc , there it is always less than 10ms.

but before connecting to my home the installed something they called ONU(fiber to ethernet i dont know what its name) brand zyxel ONU-6100b-22 and they made a "knot" in the fiber line.i asked them why and they said that onu is receiving 8 times the signal which is not required so they made the knot to reduce (they tested with some device first its reading is about -20 and after the "knot" it came to -8 or something).but the onu is 10/100/1000 capable (from its box).

So is the knot is the problem???. I must ask them again about the connection?? thanks.

that 'knot' in your fiber cable is pointless. it won't affect your internet speed.

You can undo the knot.

the installer guy and people in office have no idea what ping is and only thing i know about fiber is they work on the principle of total internal reflection 😛 , so that knot might affect my ping right?

That knot won't affect your ping. Maybe total throughput, but that's going to be limited by your plan.

I suggest you send that image off to your ISP and ask them if that's really right.

The knot will affect your ping if it has broken the glass core of the cable. Fibre Optic cables are very flexible but stressing them too much will damage them.
