I'm on a Desktop that is hard wired, At random times and for unknown reason when i try to connect to a match making server even when its one that's considered very close my ping can spike in the upwards of 200-450. When this is not going on i tend to stay around 40-70. I have been having this problem for some time now and it seems to have no care of time or if im home alone 1 device or all the devices connected. Anyways i know its not my internet provider as they have given me 3 new modem brand new wires and im running about 350MBPS down and 20 up for my speed. When im having these crazy ping problems if i do a ping test to my providers website or my routers ip its always fine, SOMETIMES when i ping google it can be messed up too like in the 150-350 but everything else come back with the Avrg MS of 30-40 in exception of my router ping that's normally 1-5. My ISP has no idea whats going all they can say is its NOT on their end after 3 months of dealing with me. Im desperate for help i have tried everything changing in game settings shutting off firewalls or windows defender fresh install of windows from scratch checked all my drivers checked just about anything i can think of. Only thing now is possibly settings or im over looking something. Here is some info u guys might need or ask about:

Router is a Ubee TWC Model DVW32CB

My Pc specs are I7 4790k 3.6 ghz 16gb ram 970FTW and a Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller and my mobo is a ASRock Z97M Killer

My PSU is a Corsair Gold 80 600W

My Os is Win10 10.0.14393 Build 14393

As said im hard wired to TimeWarner Cable Fastest Home speed they have to offer.
There Can be anywhere from 1-10 other devices. That includes 6 phones 2 streaming devices(Firesticks) 2 iPod Touches. Then my desktop being the only hardwired device. Before its said its cuz to many devices i have played games with no ping problem with both streaming devices on Netflix and everyone in the apartment home so phones being auto connected.
No Errors present never drop net completely and the stream devices and phones seem to be unaffected of these problems.

The modem im using has its own 2.4 and 5g wireless the 5g is disabled as i read it could cause problems, no other devices currently routers etc.
As said no other computers are connected.

I'm using the default Ethernet plug on the mobo.

I tried to cover any questions that might be asked if i missed anything i will be actively watching this post and will respond asap to any questions.
Any and ALL help is appreciated i have done all i can think other then buy a 3rd party Ethernet card or switch companies ty so much for taking your time to read this and respond, Best regards.

Type in console this: rate 786432

[NETWORKING]
- Allowing wider range for network channel bandwidth rate setting representing allowed game traffic to client:
- Increased default rate to 196608 which will accommodate users with internet connections of 1.5 Mbps or better.
- Players can increase their rate setting up to 786432 to represent 6 Mbps surge bandwidth allowed, but must be aware that requesting high surge bandwidth may cause packet loss if their ISP or network hardware drops packets at a high surge rate.

Gonna give this a try as im on now and my netwrok is being nutty. Will let u know within an hour if its made a difference. Should i restart game or so long im in menu it will take effect?

Ok, lets try to locate the problem before solving it.

Follow these steps in order for us to locate the problem:

1. Download "Fing" app on your cell phone.
2. Connect on your Wi-Fi network with your phone and in "Fing" app read the ip address of your desktop computer.
3. Open CMD PROMPT. (You can find it by typing cmd in search)
4. In cmd prompt type next command: ping (your desktop ip address)
Ping times should be time = 1 ms not higher!
5. Next in cmd type command: ping (your router ip address which you can read from Fing app too)
Ping times should be time = 1 ms - 2 ms not higher!
6. Open in browser speedtest.net and test your speed with recommended server.
Since you have cable internet connection coming to your modem I assume it's coaxial cable and thus your ping should be in range from 5-35ms ping and not higher!
7. Go back to CMD and try to ping your WAN ip address which you can read from speedtest website while you test your connection.
Ping time should be in range from 5 to 35 ms, and not higher!

This is a battery test to check quality of your network connection.

If ping in steps 4, 5 and 7 is higher than those I wrote then there is a problem between desktop and router connection.
BUT if everything is in check considering ping then it's 100% problem with your Internet Service Provider. (maybe signal coming to your modem isn't strong enough or there is damage on their infrastructure)

Also I checked your ISP internet package plans and I couldn't find those speeds that you have 350 Mbps/ 20 Mbps. :)

Your CS:GO is ok. There has to be a problem with internet connection.
Assuming that your firewalls are in check.
Only thing in CS:GO that can bother you is "maximum acceptable ping" it should be set in range from 50 (which is minimum) to 70 (which is playable)

Ok sorry again it took so long. I ran ALL these test all of them come back fine nothing is higher then u said and as of now all ping and speed test come back fine. But also as i speak im holding like 200-350 ping in a south west server(close) it makes no sense if i was having bad signal or if they had damage then why would all other pings check out fine just not when im connected to csgo?

My package cant be seen on the website cuz i was grand fathered in due to them being bought out by spectrum. My speed test came back 16 ping 343 down and 22 up. Im just so confused why this problem only shows its self in csgo

Ps. I also have a server selector that i can see my ping to all csgo servers and they are bad on all of them when this is going on. It honestly makes no sense.

Pss and also blows my mind cuz the bad ping isent even consistent. When im in game it jump's from 100-250 or in those ranges up and down

Ok, so everything is in check. That's good.

Now lets turn to CS:GO and modifying some networking settings.

Use these commands in console (while in main menu) to adjust your network settings to your internet connection speed:

1. rate 786432 (allows burst network traffic to receive, recommended for speeds above 6.5 Mbps)
2. mm_dedicated_search_maxping 50 (connects you to servers that are the fastest, that have 50 ms ping or lower)
3. cl_interp 0 (turns off auto-adjustment of interpolation)
4. cl_interp_ratio 1 (sets the lowest amount of interpolation this will give you the most accurate presentation of the game world)
5. cl_updaterate 128 (speed of game synchronization (what is happening in match and commands that other players are sending) from server to client in Kbps (so called 128 tick, those are max. values))
6. cl_cmdrate 128 (speed of game synchronization (what is happening in match and commands that you are sending) from client (you) to server in Kbps (so called 128 tick, those are max. values))

fps_max 0 (remove limit of fps) 😉

Explanation of commands is trivial so everyone could understand what they represent. The essence of them.
And remove server selector and any other 3rd party add-ons. Leave CS:GO in pure condition. 😉

Get back as soon as you try this.

So the problem is still there as of now my ping to myself my modem my isp and to google all come back as they should HOWEVER if i check what my pings are to csgo servers they are in range of 128 (closest) to 491 (India) i would like to add my ping for US West (seattle) is 307 my ping to US East (Sterling) is 286 my ping to US SW (Cali) 128 and my ping to US SE (Atlanta) which is the servers i NORMALLY get the best ping too is 307. None of this adds up. This is after doing what you requested in the above post. Im not sure if maybe my windows is having problems or what but im currently in a match a southeast server pulling between 200-400 ping

PS i randomly ran a ping test to google just now and its 200+ as well so im not sure if something is going on on my network that would cause this problem but nobody currently has a device connected other then one cell phone one Firestick and my desktop so i dont get it. . .2nd ping test to google for the hell of it and its back to normal 20ish but in game on same server pulling about 200-400 ping still

So at this point its to be noted my ping to google is crazy one min 20-30s next 200-400s it cant make up its mind but whatever is going on is leaving my network uselss for gaming. I ping time warner and my modem and my pc and everything looks fine there but to google and to csgo is shot also yahoo included. Im sorry if im giving a bunch of useless info im just so lost on this problem my provider says they see im getting good ping while im ping testing google. nothing is going on thats un usual 3 devices should not bring my net to its knees my phones doing nothing my desktop has no updates or uploads going and the firestick is watching netflix.
