[SOLVED] Pinned to start menu

I am setting up my replacement work laptop, and trying to make it as close as possible to the setup on my current laptop so I know where things are. I have quite a few programs pinned to my start menu. Of all the pinned programs, only Excel is responding extremely slow. If I left-click or right-click on the other programs, it response immediately. However, it takes approx 15-20 seconds for the list to open when I right-click or even left-click (to open) on Excel.

Does anyone know why it's doing that or how to speed it up? Excel is heavily used, and its very inconvenient waiting for so long.

try disable "hey cortana" feature, that should speed it up

Cortana is one of the first thing I disable on every PC I get.

None of the other programs are slow, just Excel.

Also, Excel is the only program that I am not able to delete recently viewed files from the pinned list (that is pinned to the start menu).

maybe try repairing excel

Click on the Windows "start" icon (bottom-left corner of your screen).
Click on "Settings". The "Windows Settings" window should appear.
Click on "Apps". The "Apps and Features" window containing a list of your installed programs should appear.
Select "Microsoft Office" (or "Microsoft Excel" if you do not have the full Office installation).
Click "Modify".
Choose from "Quick Repair" or "Online Repair".
