I just recently received the parts I had ordered to build my computer and all was going well until it came time to install the processor. The motherboard is a msi z190 gaming pro mobo. I went to place down the new processor without taking the cover off. When I went to lock down the processor it seems to have taken a little more force than I was used to. I have not replaced a processor in well over 5 years but when I realized it took a little force I placed it back up and looked at the board and am not sure if I may have bent the pins. Could the pins have bent if I didn't take the cover off? If the pins are bent and when I go to turn of the computer what would be the signs that the pins are bent?

If pins are bent it will not start and you have likely ruined the CPU. But when you insert the CPU it does take force to close the leaver. I think it will be fine as it does take force to install. Just make sure you got the arrow lined up correctly and you will be fine.

Well the processor did just drop right in to place with the notches on the top and bottom and the arrow in the lower right corner lined up. I think it may have happened when I tried to close it. When I tried to put the leaver down I left the cap on (the one on the socket so dust does not get in before you put the processor on, a little piece of black plastic). One I did that I notice it was really difficult. I lifted it up and took the processor out and looked at the pins ( pins are on the motherboard socked and not on the processor. I looked at the socket and It looks as though that there are two pins either bent or missing. Both in the same row with about 8 or 9 pins between them. I'm not sure if that us how the socket is suppose to be though. Other than that I put the processor back in the socket and it went right in. I'm just rather worried I bent/broke the pins when I tried to put the processor in the socket while the plastic was on.

It would be easier if I could find images of the mobo socket before the processor is installed but after the plastic is removed. Like I said 2 pins look bent but the fact they are both in the same row makes me wonder if that is by design or if I did do something
