pirated win 7 to licensed win 8.1

Hey guys so my computer has been buggy lately and i figured i should finally update to a licensed copy of win 8.

The only problem is, i keep seeing people suggest a backing up your dataing, wiping everything and reinstalling.

I dont have the cd for win 8 i only have the key for it so i was wondering how i should go about upgrading my computer.

You should definitely back up your files and then follow the instructions at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media . If you have a legitimate Win 8 key it will work (even though you'll be putting in 8.1).
