I remember someone mentioning a patch in the works. Anyone in
the know know if it's due soon? Just curious, I have noticed a small
bug.. when talking to the bartender, if he tells you that another town
has a certain ship upgrade, the ship upgrade at the town you are *at*
will change.

I finally beat it (120 points) on the second easiest difficulty and was
wondering about this patch before embarking onto the next difficulty.

Oh I just want to say, I'm not worried about the patch for that one
little bug... I haven't noticed anything else personally.. But if a
patch is due, I'm always curious to wait and see if it fixes anything
that was a major problem or something that didn't work the way
it was supposed to, etc.

There's more than one bug in Pirate's but they're pretty minor. The one
that bothers me the most is that the indian towns are always friendly
and they shouldn't be. Occasionally Baron Raymondo just disapears - he's
never where they say - even when when the bartender where he's supposed
to be says he's there. I've read reports of some map bugs too but
haven't experienced one yet.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a patch - in my experience Activision
won't put one out because Pirate's has basically run it's course and
I've seen it in the bargain bin in one place already.

Ya I've experienced some of those too come to think of it. But usually
it's not a big deal. I do get annoyed by the ship upgrades changing
though. Sometimes I go somewhere specifically to get a rare upgrade
(at least rare in my game) and then it's on chain shot instead of
tripple hammocks or whatever, so I gotta sail back out and in. One
time I had to sail in and out 3 times before it switched to what it
was supposed to be.

I've also had a map problem as I reported in another post a few
weeks back. Never did manage to find that lost uncle, and just
started a new game.

I thought someone mentioned there was one in the works. But I won't
wait for it to continue to play, since there aren't really any show
stoppers.
I just wondered if there was any further status on it.

BTW, It's Atari isn't it?

Heh Heh...
Try playing on Rogue level. Some folks claim Pirates is even too easy on
Shwashbuckler level. I think they're just blowin' smoke.

Adventurer is about right for normal/medium difficulty but I don't think
one can achieve the Governor rank if playing at that level. On rogue I
completed every single quest, killed all the pirates, was a duke for
each country, found my family, killed Montalban, got married had more
money than GOD and still only ended up as a Bishop.

Shwashbuckle is just too damned hard for me. Rogue is good enough. 😉

At adventurer level, I got to be Governor after:

(1) Kill all pirates
(2) Become duke for everyone
(3) Found all family member
(4) Defeat Montalban
(5) Marry a beautiful daughter
(6) Sack so many towns and install new governor I lost count
(7) Found 1 Lost City
(8) Dug up a couple of pirates treasures

Volunteer to retire at age of 35 or something when my health starts to
show as poor. And the end score is a governor.
