Hello guys,

A few days ago I purchased my new rig, mostly 3 Asus monitors powered by a GTX 590.It all runs very smoothly, but.I noticed like in the first 3 hours that I have a green pixel(that won't change its color) on my main monitor(middle) then just a few minutes ago I saw a blackish pixel that won't change color on my secondary monitor(right). This scares the crap out of me, what are the chances of 2 monitors out of 3 to be broken? I'm afraid this could be video card damage.I didn't OC it, so what do you guys think?(could the pixels be 'artifacts'?)

Thanks..

The green looks like a stuck pixel and the black pixel can be a stuck or dead pixel. If it doesn't bother you, it doesn't really matter and you can ignore it. Stuck pixel can go away but dead pixel will not come back again. Ask ASUS about their monitor warranty. They may have 0 dead/stuck pixel warranty (you can return it if there is a dead pixel and they replace it for you). Otherwise, you have to have 3 separate dead pixel or 2 adjacent pixel before you get replacement. I would ask them and check what is your return right.

Hey man. It definitely sucks coming across dead pixels. That's why it's the first thing we test for whenever we get monitors in the studio for review. Check out this program, it'll help you to find stuck or dead pixels.

It's pretty easy to test. Just run through the colors and stare at your monitor closely, you'll be able to see where you problematic pixels are.

Hopefully, if you bought your monitor from a retailer that offers a return policy, then you can exchange it for a new one or even get a refund. (Amazon allows you to do this within 30 days no questions asked).

However, some retailers have a dead pixel policy such as Newegg. They won't consider a monitor damaged unless there are at least 8 dead pixels.

If it's a stuck pixel, you can try pressing the pixel in and see if it comes alive. If it's a dead pixel, there really is not much you can do, you'll just have to deal with it.

The nice thing is that you really can't tell that a dead pixel is there unless you look REALLY closely and usually only when the screen is dark. If it's just one or two, then you probably won't notice it 95% of the time.

Hope this has helped.
