Unfortunately the printer is not throwing an error at all, but it complains "printer not responding" in all cases.

Wireless is not responding --

direct LAN ethernet connection, the computer can see the printer just fine, but when it goes to print a test page: "printer not responding."

Attempt to print from USB drive throws an unspecified error.

The printer also does not 'boot up" to the point of displaying the green OK/start button on restart. Instead, the start button remains dim (or mostly dim), and the LCD goes to the home screen.

Appreciate any thoughts ... this is a very good printer, I'd like to be able to bring it back into service.

(and another question, on reflection -- this model does not have a standalone physical Stop/Reset button like most Canon printers. Instead, the button is only available when it choose to light up, which is not during a reset or restart sequence. Does anyone know a way to do a factory/hard reset with this build?)

Do you have the printer's User Guide/Manual? Check the troubleshooting section? Reset information should be presented therein.

Are you able to print the test pages and configuration settings via the printer's menus?

Perhaps the printer is responding but the software does not recognize or detect the response....

Have you tried downloading the printer drivers via Canon's website?

Then reinstall and reconfigure accordingly?

Power source to printer: outlet, power strip, UPS? Try another outlet via extension cord just to eliminate a source power problem.

Hi, as mentioned above, drivers have been most likely removed from the equation by printing from a flash drive directly attached to the printer, and still receiving a "not responding" response. It is not a driver issue, it is a sudden problem of the printer, mechanical or otherwise.

Yes, it will print some test pages, such as the network configuration information, but not any user-input pages, regardless of device.

As far as I know, Canon hard reset or factory reset procedures are not found in consumer user manuals, but rather, is information people pass to each other on forums like this when they know how to do it. The hard reset procedure for similar models with a physical Reset button is well known, but this one is not.

As mentioned, it does not fully boot to green "start" / OK status, so it's not surprising that it doesn't respond to print requests, but there is no error code.

Thoughts appreciated.
