Places that provide "demo" mechanical keyboards?

I've done my research on mechanical keyboards, and from what I have read, I want a Cherry MX Black keyboard. I heard mechanical keyboards as a whole have a slightly different feeling, and I want to experience the switches for myself before I purchase.

Are there any places that provide demos or even a few keys to press down in the box? My friend told me Best Buy has some on display, so I'll have to go there in a few days.

best buy may have the blackwidow on display, yes. not so sure they have too many boards though.

your best bet would be to head down to a microcenter as they carry quite a few. you can definitely be able to test out blacks, reds, browns and blues there. there might be some opening up of a few boxes but hey... (and most of the time people have already did this on a few boxes).

if you intend to do any typing on the keyboard i'd suggest blues or browns. blacks reds and clears arent all that good to type on.

I type with plenty amount of force, so I doubt greens would ever give me a problem. Unfortunately, I am very limited to visiting Microcenter as it's quite the distance from my home.

if you like to type with alot of force perhaps cherry arent the answer.

perhaps you should look into unicomp customizers with the buckling springs. 85g resistance. they are also heavier built and the keyboards are as durable as tanks.

they are however loud...

just a suggestion.

Yeah, but they're not as "modern". I'd rather get a non-LED keyboard and get custom keycaps (preferred) or get a nice LED ones. Custom keycaps are insanely expensive, though. $40 for every key total?! That's enough for a keyboard itself.

Anyways, I think my friend has blacks. Maybe I'll get my preference from him.
