I built a PC for school but still have another desktop that my dad and I still plan to use, unfortunately there's no room for both and the one I built is bigger and won't fit in our desk anyways. It will have to go on the floor and under the desk there's a spot it can fit in but the room still has carpet and I know that's a big dust collector. He has a (stainless?) steel sign that is a good size to place the PC on, would there be any problems with this?

Assuming the proper grounding of both the pc & the electrical circuits in your home, you could literally put a pc on just about any type of surface or material without any issues..

I've seen people use wood, concrete blocks, bricks, glass blocks, plexiglass, stainless steel, carbon fiber, titanium, galvanized tin/sheet metal, pvc cylinders, rebar, sections of train rails etc..

hell I know 1 guy that uses rubber wheel chucks for a really big case (TT900) cause he says he likes how it looks with the pc resting on the pointed tops... go figure 😀

However, I have never been, and never will be, a fan of putting a computer on the floor/under a desk, 1 because of the dust collection, and 2 because I don't like having to haul it out from under a desk when it comes time to access the rear cable connections, work on it or clean it...

Just sayin :)
