Planning on upgrading to amd athlon x4 870k

It's my birthday tomorrow and with my money I'm going to get a new cpu. I've been researching and I found the 870k would work with my motherboard. It says the bios required are P1.70 does this mean I need this version specifically? I have P2.60.

Edit: Ok I will just to let everyone know I have a Asrock fm2a68m-dg3+. I'm fairly new with pc's so I don't know much about bios.

1| You should always update your BIOS to the latest revision to avoid any instability/compatibility issues.
2| You should also pass on the make and model of your motherboard to avoid buying something that your board wont support. It's happened in the past.

So are you saying that the 870k will work with my bios version I have checked and it's the newest version for my board

If it says you need BIOS rev X, it means you need rev X or newer . If the 870k is on your mobos CPU support list and you have the latest BIOS, it should work.
