Solution
The s2 is only a 3+1 phase vrm , you could possibly do 4ghz at a push at the max.

In all honesty (& if I kept track of my posts I could point you to the proof) if you disable turbo core & set a straight 3.8ghz base clock you actually get better than stock performance with no power or temp increase.

The usb3 the op has , even though it's a very similar board number has a 4+2 heatsinked vrm setup & is way way better when it comes to overclocking or running 8 core chips.

If you're really stuck on budget than yea get this but honestly I wouldn't do this, build something with ryzen, or something that runs off of DDR4, a modern setup, you wont be able to upgrade much without spending a bunch of money anyway on this setup

So like a ryzen 1600, ASRock Taichi, (Your choice in ram, corsair, gskill ect, honestly I haven't found much difference in a lot of them, there is but not enough for a huge impact, as long as you pick trustworthy from a well known company) FX is outdated and even an intel counterpart to this setup would be better than using FX

Don't build an FX based system. You WILL be sorry down the line. Its a dead platform.

One option is to buy an AM4 APU based cpu/motherboard combo (such as an A10-9700 or A12-9800) instead of a Ryzen cpu. This saves you some money vs going with Ryzen, but gives you the benefit of being able to upgrade your CPU down the road.

You're widely overspecced on the PSU & the GPU (if you're keeping that 1366 x768 monitor)

Drop to a cheaper (but decent quality 450-550w) model , swap the GPU out to a 1050ti (which will manage that resolution easily) & you'll get a ryzen CPU, b350 board & ddr4 ram in budget easily.

If you've already got them you've already got them mate.

I still own a 6300, it manages pretty well for gaming & is fine for editing in all fairness , just you could have got something on a current socket for not that much more money.

PSU/GPU advice still stands - both are overkill for the rest of the specs.

Overkill isn't a bad thing tho, if you plan on upgrading other stuff in the future than overkill is great, its always nice to future proof your builds, have more than you need not less than you need

^ well no , the PSU is just monstrously overspecced.

A 6300 + 1060 is a 320w max combo , a good 450w is easily enough , a 550w gives over 200w headroom.

I have nothing against buying a good quality psu like the seasonic x just not a 750w one.

Re : GPU , yea you can stick with a 1060 if you really like , you are never going to get proper usage out of it though at that resolution.
A 1050ti will max games at that resolution easily.

Gpu's don't hold there money that well & a 1060 6gb is generally twice the price of a 1050ti.

It's not going to hurt his system if he uses a 750w or a gtx 1060, and if he upgrades his processor later than he will be able to utilize the gpu, and if he upgrades to a mobo/processor combo that will have a high wattage then it would be saving him now instead of later

There's overkill & then there's OVERKILL.

you can run a ryzen 1700/Intel 8700k & a gtx 1080 on a decent 550w PSU.

750w is totally unnecessary when you're on a budget.

The price difference between something like the coaair cx550 & that seasonic would net you a 240gb ssd or a better monitor.

That's a more sensible proposition.

You wouldn't want a cx550 anyway, it would burn out any of the high end components you have in your pc...

The older units are indeed garbage.
Either the CXM or the CX with the gray labels are much better units and are much more reliable. I do own a 450CXM myself and never had a problem with it.

Yea I don't know much about PSU's so I'm basically going by what everyone else has told me, thanks for the info

So I cannot return the items I bought. But If I were to upgrade in the future, maybe Intel Corei9 or a to a Ryzen (IDK) I should buy a DDR4 Ram , a mobo and a CPU. Right.? Everything else will be fine?
