planning to buy a prebuilt gaming grade desktop under $1000

Cons are that the prebuilt PC's generally use cheap
- PSU
- Motherboards
- cases
- cooling

Pros:
- Already built
- May be cheaper than DIY (Especially with current memory and GPU prices)
- Already has Windows 10 Home which is often overlooked in the DIY price

These are the two best I found.

Both should support overclocking as the motherboards have a B350 chipset. These small builders tend to use stock motherboards. So, I'd expect the BIOS to be fully functional.

Advantages of System #1
- Higher watt PSU (600W vs 450W)
- 240GB SSD vs none
- USB 3.1 Gen2 vs USB 3.1 Gen1
- Faster GPU (GTX 1060 6GB vs Rx 580 4GB)
- Heatsink (Pictures show AMD Wraith Spire vs generic bottom rung Cooler Master, so it may get decent overclocks out of the box)
- 4 case fans vs 2 case fans
- nice filtered (I think) tempered glass case vs cheap box

Advantages System #2
- Faster CPU (Ryzen 7 1700x vs Ryzen 1600)
- Larger HDD (2TB vs 1TB)
- DVD Drive
