Hello,
I'm planning to upgrade Processor, Motherboard and Ram in the Computer.
I'm having the GRAPHIC CARD - PowerColor HD5550 1GB DDR3
http://powercolor.com/us/products_features.asp?id=250
I have checked few of the things and which I would like to have some suggestion on the same.
I'm planning to have a Gaming System.
I choose a processor - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808
Motherboard - I'm confused in this part which to choose. However, checked few things.
ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131767
Gigabyte AMD 785G Motherboard Price
http://www.priceindia.in/computer/gigabyte-amd-785g-motherboard-price-am3-processor-ready/
RAM - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231193
I also wanted to know if the is it required to buy any CPU cooler specifically or using the stock will just do fine.
Also, is there any particular SMPS I should look for.
I know this a lot for asking, please suggest me to have a better and satisfying gaming PC.
I haven't mentioned anything about the budget, but would like to get all of this in 12000 - 12500 INR. i.e $240.
Thanks a lot guys.

Well the PhII x4 955 is a good all around CPU for the $, so I wouldn't change that if you like it. Intel's i3 2100 is another good option, but when the budget is tight I believe AMD has good options too.

The Asus M5A97 AM3+ looks like a good mobo option that you selected. It should suit most peoples needs and has a lot of options that most people want/need too. The Gigabyte is an older chipset and WON'T likely support Bulldozer, if you decide later to upgrade to that (if that is in your plans later).

Have you considered this RAM set: $45 - $5 Promo code (EMCJJKB23)
G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR

I'd also recommend upgrading the GPU to at least a 5670 or even the 6770 if you can swing it. The 5670 will be better than the 5550 and NOT require any PCI-e power connections! The 6770 would require 1 PCI-e power connection, so I don't know if your PSU could handle it or if you even have a PCI-e power connection for it. I'd need to know what PSU you currently have, in order to know if it would work with the 6770.

Here's a couple of the GPU's I talked about:
$69 - $10 MIRc = $59!!!
SAPPHIRE 100287VGAL Radeon HD 5670 (Redwood) 512MB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

$110 - $10 MIRc - $100!!
HIS H677FN1GD Radeon HD 6770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

Honestly I'd probably get a good AMD Athlon II x3 CPU and one of the GPU's listed above to get a better gaming system. The $ saved on the Athlon II x3 could be used for the better GPU and would definitely give you a better gaming system. If your doing a lot of encoding/rendering than the PhII x4 955 would probably be a better option.

Here's a good Athlon II x3:
$78 - $10 Promo Code (EMCJJKB27) = $68 shipped!!
AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 3.2GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Desktop Processor ADX450WFGMBOX

So to recap:
$68 Athlon II x3 CPU
$100 AMD 6770 GPU
$40 8 gb DDR3 RAM

Total ~$208!!!

or if you can afford to drop in the PhII x4 955 it would be ~$264

Edit: Forgot the Mobo in the price, so that changes everything. :(
Try this again:
$68 Athlon II x3 CPU
$59 AMD 5670 GPU
$30 G.Skill DDR3 RAM (that you selected)
$100 AM3+ Mobo (that you selected)

Total ~$257 <--- I'm assuming you don't already have the 5550 GPU, but if you do, I'd consider getting the 8gb's of DDR3 RAM now at ~$40 (since it's cheap) and possibly the Athlon II x3 CPU. The PhII x4 955 is a good CPU, so get that if your only upgrading the CPU/Mobo/RAM at this time. The better GPU will do more for your gaming than anything else. If you haven't bought the GPU yet, than go with my last suggestion (assuming you only have about $240 to spend).

Hi, Lunyone. Is it okay to purchase Computer parts from online.

Here in the local's these items are expensive then in the online.

Just wondering, what happens if there is some problem with the shipping and the purchased item in not working will it be replaced etc.

I guess it depends on where your ordering from (reputation??). I'm not sure on your predicament, but I order from Newegg almost exclusively, due to the good customer support and their good prices (generally).

I buy about 95% of my stuff online, unless I need something right away.

Hi, Lunyone.
I have got the Items. I have the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (CPU), ASUS M5A78L-M LE (mobo) and G.SKILL Value Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9S-4GBNT (RAM).

MOBO

CPU

I know that this is not the items that you have suggested me. However, how does these components stack up to be a Gaming PC.

I have the same PowerColor HD5550 1GB DDR3 (GPU).

I'm planning to increase the GPU to which you have suggested.

Please let me know how this components are that is considering for a Gaming PC.

I have a Mercury atx switiching power supply 450w.

The model # on the PSU says KTP-H200.

Also, I'm sorry The CUP is AMD Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103887

However, I'm having second taught to change the Processor to Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition.

If I change the Processor (CPU) I'll have to change the MOBO too that is what the sales person informed.
He just said like ASUS 88 board.

What would you suggest, shall I go with the processor the one I have that is the AMD Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition or should I change it to Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition.

Well from what I've been reading about "Mercury" PSU's is that they aren't too reliable and are over-rated for what they are. I'm not sure if your PSU is included in that conversation, but I wouldn't bet on it too much. I'd still buy a quality PSU for your system w/Antec/Corsair/PCP&C/Seasonic if they are available. A quality PSU will last you for years and also has a good warranty too (3-5 years is a normal warranty for quality PSU's).

The PhII x2 560 BE CPU is fine, unless you get into some major rendering on your system. For gaming and all around use the 560 BE should do you fine. I do like to suggest a quad core, but your 560 BE might unlock to a quad core and then you would have a much better setup for less $ :) I only suggested the Athlon II x3 CPU, because it is cost effective and can do quite a bit with the 3 cores too :) The PhII x4 955 BE is what I'd probably buy at this point in time, if the cost isn't too much. If your going to be gaming a lot than any of the 3 CPU's mentioned will do just fine. I would rather have a good CPU and the best GPU I could afford, when looking for a good gaming combination.

I'm not sure what the "Sales Person" was talking about concerning the motherboard changes for the different CPU's, but ANY AM3 CPU will work with your selected mobo that you listed. The AM3+ based mobo's should be compatible with the new Bulldozer CPU's (most of them should).

So if I read it right, you have the:
* AMD PhII x2 560 BE CPU <---Good CPU, BTW for the $, especially if you unlock the other 2 cores and end up with a Quad core CPU!!!

* Asus M5A78L-M LX Mobo with:
AMD AM3+ FX™/Phenom™ II/Athlon™ II/Sempron™ 100 Series Processors
Supports CPU up to 95 W

AMD Cool 'n' Quiet™ Technology
32nm AM3+ CPU is supported by BIOS version 0401 and later

* G.SKILL Value Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9S-4GBNT

I think you shouldn't have any issues with these parts. Your gaming will be limited by your AMD 5550 GPU.

Here is what I'd recommend doing for future upgrades:

* Upgrade your PSU to a quality 380w-500w PSU (if sticking with Midrange GPU's and less). Look for quality ones from Antec/Corsair/PCP&C/Seasonic brands.

* Upgrade your GPU to a 5670/6670 or better. <---These don't require a PCI-e power connector from your PSU, so they don't consume more than the 75w that the PCI-e slot supplies. I would suggest the 6770 or even the 6790/6850 GPU's at the minimum (if you upgrade soon). The 6770 generally runs around $100 and the 6790/6850 run in the $125-160 price range.
