Plastic film on motherboard

A plastic film is there on my asus rog z370 e gaming motherboard's m.2 heatsink but I am not using an m.2 ssd. Is it ok to leave the plastic film on and I also have the graphic card passing over the m.2 heat sink?

It probably wouldn't cause harm even if you were using it with an M.2 drive. But I'd remove it because it might come loose on it's own and FOD up a fan or something.
