platter density question. 320gb 5400rpm VS 80gb 7200rpm. which better?

Solution
Hi there alth0triplemadang,

As you already have an SSD for OS, then I believe it would be best to go with the bigger, 5400 RPM drive. Yet, the 80 GB one may be slightly faster.
As for the power efficiency, you need to look for the spec sheets of both drives. Anyways, HDDs do not require much power.

This si what you actually want: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/qf98TW/a-data-internal-...

Excuse me, sir. Link you posted there is an SSD, not HDD.

Have 2 SSDs for OS and non-write extensive things.

SSD is designed for its "fast read speed" not its "writing" ability. Writing lots of data will shorten its lifespan. So I still stick with old, half-sized HDD

That is unanswerable. "Better", for what usage?
Personally, I would consider an 80GB drive to be mostly useless, simply due to size.

Which is better, a Prius or an F-150?

yeah, i think so. that why i compare it to bigger but "slower" 5400rpm laptop drive. i bought that 320gb hdd from my friend for 10 bucks, very nice deal for me 😛 i hope i still can reuse it to replace my 80gb ones.
