hi

in "my music" folder, i have songs, and folders which also contain songs.
if i highlight a song, then go to 'play all', instead of playing that song,
the song that is played is one from one of the folders. is there any way to
correct this?
(without having to remove all the folders from 'my music')

More information please. What software are you using to play music on your
computer? Obviously not the default which is Windows Media Player, since it
doesn't have a 'play all' feature. Whatever you are using you might try
opening and then pressing F-1, the HELP key and see if that is covered in
help. If not, post back with more information, I'm sure someone here uses
whatever you use and can help.

Yes, Play All is a feature of Windows Media Player.

You have to have Show common tasks in folders enabled to see Play All.
-----

[[You can display hyperlinks to common tasks in the left pane of your folder
windows. The links provide quick access to file and folder management
activities and other places on your computer, such as My Computer, Shared
Documents, and My Network Places. Windows displays these links by default,
so they may already be displayed in your folders. If they are not, you can
use Folder Options to enable this feature.]]

Start | Run | Type: control folders | OK |
General tab | Show common tasks in folders

Show common tasks in folders
[[Specifies that hyperlinks to common folder tasks and other places on your
computer are displayed in folders. These links appear in the left pane of
the folder window.]]

Enable or disable Common Tasks pane in folders

"Single-click to open an item" in the Folder Options is grayed out
The option Show Common tasks in folders will also grayed out.

"play all" is listed under 'music tasks' on the left side of the folder of
'my music'
not part of media player, it is an xp feature.

i don't understand why a) the first reply did not know this and b) the
second reply throws out numerous other solutions to, albeit similar problems
and issues, not my specific issue

not sure why i have to say this, but if you don't have the answer, please
don't respond to my, or anyone elses questions.

In the first place I was replying to the second poster, not to you.

I will respond to anything I like. I don't know where you live, but in the
USA we have the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. That
gives me the right to freedom of speech.

Even if I knew the answer to your problem, I wouldn't post it now.

in your own words..."even if knew the answer...."

which means you don't know the answer...

which means you're replying to an issue with out a clue to its solution.

so now i need to ask, do you simply reply to every question just to exercise
your first amendment rights?

the point is, if someone sees a question with five or six replies, and none
of them are of any use, it looks to whoever may really have the solution that
the issue has been resolved, and might not even read the post. believe it or
not, some of us actually come here looking for help, not just to allow
someone who "even if i knew the answer" to post because they can.

I was trying to inform the other poster that Play All is indeed a valid
