Play old games on widescreen?

Hello, I recently bought Knights of Honor, an old game, which comes at a standard resolution of 1024 X 768. As my monitor is at 1920 X 1080, this is quite an annoyance, since the game runs in a small box in the middle of the screen.

However, I found these instructions: http://steamcommunity.com/app/25830/discussions/0/666827974698081759/ to force it on 1920 X 1080, but they don't seem to be working for me, even after I followed instructions to the letter. Any idea what I could do to achieve what the OP there did, or something else I could do to make the situation better?

Thanks.

This is usually a simple monitor setting on you monitor. Scroll through the menus and find something like "Stretch Screen to Fit" or similar to have your monitor fit lower res modes to full screen. Again, this is usually in the menus on the controls on the monitor it's self.

The most similar option that I have on Catalyst is "Scale image to full panel size", and it's been on all along. I can get it to fit most of the screen however, but not the whole of it, as the OP apparently did. Also the image quality degrades, but I assume that is to be expected. I changed my screen resolution to 1024 X 768 as well and got the same result: most of the screen if filled, but not all of it. I did try all the display options on the launcher as well, just like the instructions say. Should I just play it as it is?

The only similar option on my monitor itself is to automatically or manually oversize the display. I tried oversizing it manually, but it did no good, so I left it on automatic.
