Ok so i got:
Intel xeon x5460 cpu
msi g41m-p28 motherboard
hd 5770 1 gb gpu
4gb ddr3 ram
windows 7 64 bit
I have the 771-775 socket mod done and a modified bios.(i dont think this is the issue because when i had the old bios, it was behaving the exact same way)

Basically when im playing paladins(everything on high, 60-50 fps) for a few minutes, my cpu reaches 100% and it lags a lot(10-20 fps), but after 30 seconds everything goes back to normal.
The same thing happens in minecraft when im in creative(everything on high, 180-150fps) flying around for a few minutes, it lags for 20-30 seconds then everything is fine.

In cinebench(347),
my temps(hw monitor) are:
cpu:
core 0:84
core 1:77
core 2:75
core 3:75
gpu:
57-58

I think it's because my cpu is overheating but im not sure.
Is this normal?
Do you guys know what might cause this?

Solution
Your CPU temps are fine. Check system memory usage when gaming. It's probably because you only have 4GB of system RAM. Get 8GB for better performance. Also, 2GB of video ram is also typically the minimum for current games.

Well i left open hwmonitor while playing paladins(same thing happened) and the the system memory was at 72% max and gpu memory at 65% But another weird thing is that when my pc is lagging, the cpu stays at 100% and gpu at 95% then after 10 sec it drops to 50-60%(still lagging) and gpu to 7-9% then after 20 seconds everything is fine again. This pretty much happens in 5 min periods.
Is it because my hdd is slow?
