So i am currently playing doom on my 750ti and its struggling with everything turned down to either low/medium. I feel like i am missing out on graphics.
I am looking at upgrading to this http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/components-and-upgrades/graphics-cards/pny-geforce-gtx-1070-graphics-card-10157449-pdt.html
Just wanted to know if its worth and the card is any good.

Yeah, I had the same issue just testing out an GTX 680 at 1080p in Doom to see how it held up, struggled to pull 60fps on mostly med-low settings and dipped dramatically in parts.
With a 750ti it must be hell. 🙁
List your full current specs list and budget for a graphics card.

We'll need to know full system specs-including monitor rez and refresh rate-before we can offer any solid advice.

Unsolid advice would be that a GTX1070 is overkill for a 60Hz 1080 display, something like a GTX1060 or RX470/RX570 would be a better match with the GTX1060 being the faster overall option.

CPU - Intel I7 7700K
RAM - 16GB
Monitor - Samsung 24 S24D590PL

Was looking to spend now £300 or save another month and possibly £400

Yeah it's a 60hz 1080p monitor i have. Can't afford upgrading the monitor yet.

Just been looking at YouTube about that card and it is too big for my system i have a Corsair 240 case.

@ silentstorm161: Do you intend to upgrade the display within, say a year? If so, to what?

It's obvious that the current card is hopelessly outclassed by the rest of your setup, so I'm wondering...why? Is gaming a lesser use of your system? Are you looking for a graphics boost for casual gaming or a higher boost to get max eye candy for more serious gaming?

Oh, and if you want to drop <>£550 on the system this makes more sense to my mind than a GTX1080: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/coozie7/saved/#view=zqtFTW

Overclocking won't make an underpowered card into a performer. Overclocking is good for squeezing the last bit of performance out of a videocard. This means the card needs to be mostly there in performance already for overclocking to be useful. The 750 Ti is a card that would need you to reduce the GPU load, via lower settings, just to keep pace in a new game. So overclocking won't do much.

I agree with other people here that a 1070 is the best for you. It's more than you need now, but if you're still using a 750 Ti then obviously you're someone who hangs on to card as long as possible. The 1070 is better than the 1060/580 options if this is the case.

The Rx 460 4GB can sustain a stable 60+ FPS, evidental by the proffesional benchmarks. The 2GB version struggled however..

Another review claims a 56FPS average on doom with Vulcan at 1080p, ultra settings. Looking at these results, an RX 470/570 may be needed for a more stable 60FPS however overclocking it is unnecessary to achieve the goal.

Agreed with what's been said so far. DOOM (In Vulkan) gets better performance on Radeon cards against their Nvidia competitors but at 1080p 144 Hz or 1440p 60 Hz a GTX 1070 is the best option for this game and most in general. But if you are using and don't plan on changing from the 1080p 60 Hz display for a while yet, an RX 480/580 will be the best option since this is your primary game and they are capable of playing most modern games in 1080p 60 FPS High/Ultra settings. Hope this helps :)

In all the ones i've seen it's hovering around the 50-55 mark for the most part.
An RX 470 should hit 60 for sure.

The RX 580 overclocked will still be a very capable card in Doom for a 1080p 144hz monitor or 1440p 60hz, with an average framerate atleast 140 FPS. I agree, but i'm sure OP plays more than just DOOM. If he is planning on buying a new monitor at a high refresh rate or higher resolution soon then it's perfectly logical to grab a GTX 1070 over the RX 580, if not it's perfect for his current monitor.

Thermals which results in higher fan speed which results in louder, generally. Also the of potential is normally lower on the mini GPUs.
