So awhile back when I had looked into this and really found no clear info on how to do this. Then I stumbled upon this website/forum and have learned quite abit of things.

I often play my Ps2 and Xbox when I get the chance. My main 2 questions are, what does one have to go through to connect a PS2/3 and Xbox to a LCD monitor. Im assuming other parts are going to be needed for this and/or different monitor. My main goal is to be able to flick a switch or what not to be able to go back from Computer to Console.

Hope you can help me out here. If im unclear on some things, please let me know.

Hi,

I often play my consoles in front of my computer too so i'll try to help. I think your main consideration would be the type of LCD you have. If you're lucky and have a higher end monitor you may have more than one type of input in the back of it. For example, i use dell's 2407 which has 5 types of connections in the back i think (component, composite, s-video, DVI and VGA). So, when i want to play games on my PS2 i normally use the s-video. WHen i'm done i just press a button on the monitor that switches back to DVI which is where my PC is plugged in. I may also plug in my XBox to the composite input, in which case i could switch between my PS2, Xbox, as well as the PC. Things get a little more complicated with the PS3 and Xbox360 however. To get high def video quality out of them your LCD (i believe) must have HDCP enabled. This is standard i believe on newer LCD's but perhaps not on older ones, hope this helps

Thanks for the response. Didnt think anyone would respond at all heh. How is the picture quality and response time in the games? What types of fast paced games have you tried on it so i get a rough idea of wtfs going one.

np :)

Let's see.. although i built this thing back in june or july of 06, i've only played two games so far. blame 200+ hours in oblivion for that hehe. but the first game i beat was FEAR, and it was just fine on my dell 2407 LCD. i love my 2407. in fact, i love it so much that i just bought my second one 2 days ago and edited my sig to show it  but to directly answer your question there are lots of great LCDs and you should not have any problem finding one suiting your needs as a FPS fan.

yea they truly are great! i was debating at first whether or not i should just get one dell/apple 30", but right now i'm glad i didn't, if only because of the extra inputs in the back that the 2407s have. unfortunately i missed UPS today so hopefully i'll be gellin like a (double 24" monitor) felon tomorrow

So it seems that I've found this from Benq

Wonder how that will do with it. Thanks for the input that some of you have put in, even if it is minimal it helps 😀

i've also heard really good things about that BenQ, and it was one of the few on my list i was looking at (along with the dell and the samsung 244t). i finally decided on the 2407 after finding this article, hope it helps

Sarafan if you can take some pics. I have a 22' Acer but I never really seen anything to compare the 24' too. Maybe put like a cd or something so i can see the size difference. And sucks that you missed UPS.

Hi cstelly, sure i'll see what i can whip up. However, here's a link that could quite possibly solve your dilemna(s):

http://www.bexox.com/showdown.htm

this is quite possibly the best objective (and subjective!) review of the FP241wz and Dell 2407 i've yet read. the results are discussed here:

even though it ends up leaning towards the BenQ, i'm easily entertained and i've enjoyed my 2407 thoroughly enough to stick with it. However, i may end up sending back my second 2407 and and get the BenQ. The HDMI input and better scaling might make it worth the hassle 😛
