Hi everyone-

I'm interested in a PC that should handle games properly, such as GTA V.
The single part that will not be changed is the GTX 660 2GB GPU.
The optional RAM is G.Skill Value 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz.

Do you think that i5-7600 could handle GTA V? Will it deliver 60 FPS give or take on med-high settings on 1080p? Is this CPU and overkill? Would an i7 perform better with more multi threads?

Also, is there any significant difference between Intel® H110 with 5 GT/s DMI2 vs Intel® B150 8 GT/s DMI3?

Thanks :wahoo:

Solution
An i5 7600 will be slower in GTA than the i7 4770. GTA V can take advantage of the i7's extra threads, and hyperthreading gives it an almost 30% total throughput advantage.

EDIT: That said, it will probably be satisfactory given what you've said.
An i5 7600 might not maintain a perfect 60fps but you'll probably still average well above that, and it may be satisfactory for you. An i7 is starting to look pretty necessary for keeping minimums and sometimes even averages above 60fps from here on out.

DDR4 2133 will be fine but 2400 would be better and generally costs the same.

Your GTX 660 will require you to drop your graphical settings, possibly below "med-high" in order to hit your framerate target.

Neither B150 nor H110 will work with an i5 7600 or i7 7700 out of the box; both will not POST until you've updated the BIOS, which will require that you have a 6th generation CPU available. You should buy a B250 board instead; these are designed to work with Intel's 7th generation CPUs.

Yeah, sorry for the confusion with motherboards.
Will a GTX 1050 OC 2GB GDDR5 do better than a GTX 660 2GB?

I thought that the i7 7600 will do the trick as it does reach 4.10 GHz.

i5 7600, or i7 7700? The i5 will be good for 60fps most of the time, but there's a reason faster and more expensive CPUs exist.

I believe the 1050 is just about equal to a 660, maybe a hair faster. If you already have the 660, don't bother.

i5-7600's Max Turbo Frequency is 4.1.
The 660 is currtnely in a different build which consists of:

Intel Core i7 4770 @ 3.40GHz
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)

GTA V runs well with most setting on high (expect MSAA and others since I want to run 60 FPS smoothly and consistently).

The point is that the second build must be at least equivalent to the current one, yet within reasonable budget limit. Both current and future builds aren't suppose to be heavy gaming platforms - just your casual GTA V kind of gamer who their games working smoothly.
