The chances are extremely low. And the hard drive shouldn't even have been opened by a professional without the proper environment for it; it's not like repairing a radio or a lawn mower. If the data is important, the only real solution is to pay a lab to try and recover it. This is expensive and by opening the drive, you may have made it even more expensive and less likely to be successful.
Unfortunately, the best protection from losing files is to have multiple backups of important data. This is a basic part of PC ownership, no different than changing the oil in your car or the air filter in your furnace/ac. When this is neglected, bad things happen.
