Hello, I am new to system building so before I buy all my parts I would like people more educated than me to check over what I selected just in case I selected something bad or incompatible or if I am missing a part.

I will be using my computer for primarily gaming but I will also be using it to surf the web and edit videos. Anyways this is what I have picked.

Intel Core i7 2600K

$2500 including tax is my budget and don't ask me why I bought so much corsair stuff because I don't really know why :/ and I'v already price matched everything.

Thank you.

Here's another take on that build you posted. 850w psu for dual 6970's, not 750w. That Asrock board runs dual cards @ x16 & x16 (NF200 Bridge) instead of the usual x8 & x8. That board is also set up with the PCI-E 3.0 slots for Ivy Bridge and the new generation vid cards due out this December (AMD), Nividia cards due out after the first of the year.

For a headset, I would want the Analog version...for something that plugs straight into the sound card for a clearer sound. Also you might look at a larger 120/128GB SSD.

MoBo - The Asrock wouldn't be my choice because of the chinsy warranty.

CPU - Video editing warrants the 2600k but also suggest CUDA and ya don't get that with the AMD cards. Plus for just $30 more, ya could do two factory OC'd 560 ti 900Mhz cards and get a 60% increase in frame rates over the factory OC'd 6970.

Cooler The Corsair and Hyper Cooolers are nothing to get excited about. First isn't impressive at all and 2nd is a great budget cooler but ya not building a budget system here. Here's a good list of the relative performance of today's top enthusiast coolers.

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=797&Itemid=62&limit=1&limitstart=4

RAM - The only cooling effect of these big coolers is that they "look cool". While they served a purpose (when they were effective) w/ DDR2, they are absolutely useless on DDR3.

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=773&Itemid=67&limit=1&limitstart=1
At more than 2" tall in certain areas the Corsair Vengeance could pose a problem for users like me who use large coolers such as the Scythe Mugen 2. I was able to use the Corsair Vengeance only after I mounted the fan on my cooler on the backside. Size is definitely a concern with heat spreaders of this size and therefore I encourage users to check that they will have enough space under their heatsinks before purchasing the Corsair Vengeance kit.

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=773&Itemid=67&limit=1&limitstart=6
The problem I have with the Corsair Vengeance is the same I have with many kits of RAM on the market. Companies insist on putting large coolers on their RAM and it limits the choice in CPU heatsinks that can be used within users system. DDR3 does not require these elaborate coolers with its lower voltages which translate to lower temperatures then RAM saw during the DDR, and DDR2 era. Corsair is correcting this with low profile versions of its Vengeance line but ultimately I would like to see the average size of coolers drop instead of having to look for specific low profile versions of a memory line.

The Vengeance low profile gives same performance w/ the useless tall heat sinks

SSD - Id find a way to jump to 120/128GB SSD unless you are adept at keeping ya root partition "skinny".
