I am going to buy all the parts in the next 1-2 days and I would like to hear people's opinions:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77

Power Supply: CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1

SSD: Samsung 830 Series MZ-7PC256B/WW 256GB

Video Card: EVGA 02G-P4-2678-KR GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB 256-bit GDDR5

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14

RAM: G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 F3-1600C8Q-16GAB 

This is for gaming, mostly likely I'll be buying 1 of those 27" Korean monitors so I'll be playing at 2560x1440 resolution. I play World of Warcraft a lot, and I like to have 2 WoW open in full screen windowed mode with max setting, however, my current system simply cannot handle that.

Please let me know if any parts are too cheap/overpriced for the build. Also, I plan on doing 2-way SLI with GTX 670, if I do, should I change any parts? Thanks.

Lastly, will any of these parts go on sale for Black Friday/Cyber Monday? I hate to pay and see price drop in just few days lol, it gives me a heart attack.

Is this just for gaming? Because the i7 is pointless in terms of gaming. You're literally going to see a 1-2fps difference.

-why are so many people getting the ftw from evga? it performs the worst in terms of temps compared to all the other open air cards. why??

Well I bought i7-3770K for $229.99 + tax which comes out to $243.79, pretty close to the normal price of i5-3570K.

For video card, I don't really know that well lol, I just go to newegg and compare the Core Clock, Boost Clock, and Effective Memory Clock speed, and EVGA FTW is the highest of them all around the similar price range?

Right now I am having a hard time deciding on SSD. I like Samsung because the reviews indicate it is the most reliable brand, however, the new 840 series is even worst than the 830 series? 840 Pro is simply way too expensive, so I opt for 256GB 830 series, which is kinda hard to find right now.

I also heard lots of recommendation for OCZ Vertex 4, no doubt it has great performance but I'm little worried about its reliability.

Lastly, the 16GB memory I listed seems like a total ripoff, it costs over $100.00 and there are 32GBs selling for that much. Again, I don't know much about memory either, but it seems to have the lowest timing, so I'm not sure if there are other alternatives. What other popular brands/models are there?

the gigabyte will win. any other non-reference card will beat the ftw

yes the 840 non pro uses USB quality flash. its below async nand that is used on budget ssds. the pro is what you want but its too expensive as you said

the vertex 4 is based off of marvel hardware. about same stuff found in the crucial m4

8gb is more than enough. take my suggestion unless you are video editing. higher speeds and lower timings dont do much unless you have a APU rig

I like to reiterate that I will be playing at 2560x1440 resolution and I assume that should change the parts quite a bit.

For instance, I see lots of people choosing 4GB version of video cards instead of 2GB and most of them are doing 2-way SLI or planning on SLI in the future.

Well I am curious if the extra 2GB of vRAM justifies its cost, ~$80 more than 2GB, and is 2-way SLI the way to go for 2560x1440 considering it will cost another ~$420.

One game that I will definitely be playing for sure is GTA V and judging from past GTA titles, I probably need a very good system to run at max setting. Which is why I'm thinking if 4GB GTX 670 and SLI are worth the extra ~$500 cost for 2560x1440.

if you are going to do 1440p, get a 7970. they perform a lot better from bigger mem bus and more vram from the get go

its not like a 670 wont perform well in 1440p, just that its not as optimal.

id generally wouldnt get one of those korean panels due to the fat that if you have dead pixels, you cant return it. if you want a cheap but awesome 1440p from asus, they have their pb278q PLS panel for 700
