If this is a gaming rig only then i'd go down to the i5-3570k as the 3770k won't do much better.

16gb of ram is overkill for gaming only (and most other things really) 8gb will be fine.

I'd go with the hyper 212 evo cooler and ditch the Zalman

Do you really feel the i5 will be good enough for the next 4 or 5 years? (I tend to keep pc;s for around 5 years). Also if I were to drop down to 8GB do you have a recommended good set for overclocking?

I will look at that cooler.

Thanks for the reply

Take out the Corsair case and put in a Fractal Design Define R4, same quality but cheaper and better looking, save $40

Take out the 3770K if you don't do media intensive tasks other than gaming and put in a 3570K, save a $100

Remove that cooler for Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, better cooling for less money spent. Save $10

Reduce your RAM from 16 GB to 8 GB if you are just using this for gaming purposes. Save $100

Take out the WD Black and get a 1TB Seagate HDD 7.2K RPM 64MB cache for the same price.

For Video card you can keep the one you have there or just grab a Sapphire Dual-X HD 7970 for better performance.

Other than that you are good to go! The Money you save can be used for other things like another GPU or a second and 3rd monitor if you want. Cheers!

With the other components you've chosen, even though its a corsair PSU, I'd step it up to a better model.

If you're only going to run with 1 video card, this 550W XFX PSU (made by Seasonic) is $70:
http://www.amazon.com/XFX-ATX-550-Power-Supply/dp/B004RJ8EKI

Though, since you've decided to get an SLI motherboard (I'm guessing because you're looking to pick up another 670 at some point?), I'd go with a 700W-850W PSU. Here's an XFX 850W modular (manufactured by Seasonic) that will have you SLI-ready:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207028

An option to save money to be used for other components is going with an i5-3570k at $220:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

The change to the 3570k would free up funds for the better power supply (850W) and still give you an equivalent gaming experience.

Everything else you've chosen is pretty darn solid.

Agree on RAM - if you have the money, why not, but unless you have a specific use case for 16GB, just do 8GB. Or use 2 sticks only - room to expand when you actually need it, and possibly less stress on the integrated memory controller (allowing for higher/stable overclocks - again, possibly).
Also, spend up on CPU cooling if you do plan to overclock - and spend up on motherboard as well to get something with either more power phases or better power delivery. The UD3H version is incrementally better than the one you have listed - but you can increment your way up to $200+ in a hurry, how much of an overclock do you want to try for? Only you can decide how important this "feature" is to you.
I have a Zalman CNPS9900Max, and have been REALLY impressed with it...but again, if overclocking is a huge draw for you, you may want to consider water-cooling or at least using a tower cooler with interchangeable /replaceable fans.
Honestly, unless you're trying to get that i7 (and I agree with the i5 preference, see 16GB RAM reason for why) to 5 GHz, you should be okay with what you have. Just some things to think about, depending on what your goal is.

+1 i agree with all this.
;)

That ram is way over priced get this instead RAM:G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-8GAB

I like it!

You could still save a few more $$ by going with a smaller 128GB SSD (instead of the 240GB) to use as your system drive. A Samsung 830 at $130 is a good deal:
http://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-7PC128B-WW/dp/B0077CR60Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1363797602&sr=1-1&keywords=samsung+830+128gb

This would free up some funds for another GTX 670 and put you about $100 over your original figure of $1800, but would give you an SLI setup right away.

If you decide not to get the second 670 right away, I'd definitely stick with the future SLI option as I've had much better experience with it than I've ever had with crossfire.

lol sorry it double posted

I like where this is going, I'd still find a way to cut cost on the ram, case, and psu. There seems to be at least 200 bucks to be saved. This will put you closer to the 2nd 670. 670 in sli should hold you over for some time.

Much better revision :)

Only thing is that if you do not intend to SLI then 850w is a lot for this build. You could save some money with a 650w-750w. XFX is a good brand though

Other than that you're looking good

What's so good about that case? I can tell that you like it a lot but if you take it off and get something for cheaper with same cooling capabilities and quietness then you might be able to add another GTX 670 there and you will be golden. Other than that, you are good to go. And stick to that SSD. I had 1 ssd then I started running out of space so I added another, you'd appreciate the space and speed boost for booting and media access etc.

Personally, if I was playing with $1800...
GPU: 2 670's ($820) - ($980)
PSU: XFX Pro850 ($100) (SLI certified) - ($880)
RAM: 8GB 1600 Memory ($60) - ($820)
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB ($240) - ($580)
MoBo: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ($135) - ($445) (free RAM w/purchase atm - $505)
Case: Whatever $90-100 case seems most appealing - ($355)
OS: $90 - ($265)
CPU: i5 3570K ($220) - ($45)
HS/F: Zalman or 212 (I'm a fan of Zalman)

I left out HDD. $60 Seagate fits in here if you get the free RAM with the MoBo from NewEgg. I'd want the i7 for streaming, but if you aren't streaming, there's no point other than bragging rights. Dual 670's is way better for bragging anyway and is just completely badass all-around.

I'd do something like this: SLI 670s, ssd 128, 16 gigs of ram for the price of 8, i5k with known value case and cheaper and more powerful psu.
