I have an old BIOSTAR AM3 motherboard I need to repair. It appears that the BIOS settings are not 'sticking' when I save and exit from setup. I replaced the coin battery on the board thinking that may have been the problem, but it wasn't. No matter what settings I enter/save in BIOS, the reboot reverts back to the default settings. I'm wondering if the area that the BIOS settings are stored in (PROM?) is defective, and I'm wondering if that is located on the BIOS chip itself?

Where are the user BIOS settings stored? I'm assuming on the BIOS chip itself, no?

Do you try update the BIOS yet? Try it first, if the MB does not have newer BIOS. Check the biostar site for the BIOS.
Yep, already did that. But that wasn't really my question...

There is also a long one minute pause during POST. The POST screen gets to the line "identifying USB controllers..." and then sits for 63 seconds before anything happens.
