My pc is brand new, I built it about a week ago and it was working perfectly until today, when I turned it on it gave me the "please enter boot device" error. I looked online and found that the common cause for this problem is to have your boot devices in the wrong order, that was the case for me as my optical drive was the first boot device, my western digital hdd was the second device, and Windows boot manager was option three. But when I changed my hdd to boot option one I was still having the problem. I entered the Windows 10 disk and clicked the repair option but could not restore Windows 10 and keep my files because my hard drive is locked, and I tried troubleshooting my pc on the same page but it said something about a partition not found. It was 4 am so I don't remember the exact messages. I read that reinstalling Windows 10 could be a possible solution, if so how do I reinstall with the cd, do I just put my optical drive as boot option one and put the disk in or is there more I have to do? Does it matter that I have the old version of Windows 10 downloaded and all my files currently on my hard drive? Thanks I'm really confused.

Hi there X_d_o_help,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. 🙁
I believe it should be W10EZEX right?(WD Blue)

Do you have some important data stored on the drive? In case you do, it may be a good idea to access the drive with some data recovery tool for DOS mode first, back up your data and reinstall OS then. You can do so with the Ubuntu Live CD approach: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

Regarding the OS re installation, just check out what Laptop_Nerd suggested.

After that, it would be a good idea to check the drive's health out. You can do so with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(both short and extended tests): http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=JrQgXf

Let me know how...
