I recently came across my old copy of "Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets" when browsing through some things, and thought I would try it again for the good memories. The installer worked fine. Once it had installed it simply would not launch.

I found a patch here: http://fdossena.com/?p=hp2/i.frag
I did as the tutorial asked and the launcher worked, it came up as it should. I closed it to tweak the ini, all I changed was the resolution and and set textures and models high. When re-launching the game it would not work, it came up with this error: http://prntscr.com/efpesn

I have looked into it and found no fix. I have tried reinstalling the game a few times, and deleting the registries for it via regedit, no luck. Also no communicability mode fixes the issue. Here are my system specs:

Windows 10 64-bit,
AMD Athlon X4 750k @ 3.40 GHz,
Gigabyte GTX 750 ti (OC Edition),
1x 4GB 1300 MHz DDR3 Corsair Vengeance RAM,
1x 2GB 800 MHz DDR3 Kingston RAM,
120GB SSD, 450GB HDD, 1.5TB HDD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this game posses many great childhood memories I was looking forward to reliving. Thank you :)

eek i know how to fix this one...

You need to... "mod" this game...

A No-CD "Mod" would solve this, i'm almost certain of it.

Just google "Harry Potter chamber of secrets fix" the first option is a website who's name i can't mention - but it will solve the problem.

I already had a replacement .exe in the patch I got. I tried this anyway but I still got the same error which says:
Critical Error
Critical protection fault!
History: appInit

Now that you have the EXE replaced go ahead and set it to run in compatibility mode. and delete the hp.ini you edited.

I tried that and it did not solve the issue. Could there be anything else causing this error?
