Please help: good gaming monitor under 4-500$

I'm building a new gaming rig, and i want to get a good monitor to go with it. I will be getting a GTX 580 video card, so i really want to make the most of it. I will also want to game at 1920x1200 resolution, because that seems the better overall resolution for gaming (as opposed to 1920x1080) as far sa ratio goes (16:10 vs 16:9), and want a pretty big screen, min 24", but would like 26". I wont be watching any movies on this monitor (got the HDTV for that), i will just be using it for gaming (mostly) and web browsing.

The options i have been looking at so far are these: LG w2600h, Viewsonic vx2739wm (this only has a 1920x1080 resolution though, so, it's not my top choice; but the 1ms response time is sweet), and Asus vw266h.
Now, all these displays have their pros and cons, but so far the LG seems to have the most positive votes, it's also adjustable, nice color and contrast, and the 5ms is ok for gaming. The Asus and Viewsonic have better response times, which are better for gaming, but the viewsonic only has 1920x1080 res, and the Asus has mixed reviews (regarding blue-ish color and some other stuff).

Of course i'm open to other options as well, that's why i'm here after all. So please, can you guys recommend a good gaming monitor, keeping in mind what i've said about preferences?

Hate to burst your bubble, but the LG w2600h is no longer in production. While there are still new, unused ones that can be bought, the price has increased significantly beyond your budget.

I live in eastern europe, and most stores here said they have it (on their websites), but upon calling them to check their stock they all seem out, so, ya.. basically no w2600h. Unfortunately you were right. So... any other suggestions?

Isn't the LG W2600H an S-IPS? I know the W3000H is S-IPS.

Also don't think too highly of overdriven GTG response time. The manufacturers pick which grey tone to test so they can achieve the fastest response time on paper. So 1ms isn't 100% faster than 2ms. Its probably just more aggressive overdrive to get slightly lower response for that single grey tone they tested. The average response time may be no different than 2ms or even 5ms response time.

You can try a 120hz monitor but those only only come up to 24" and all 1080P TN panels.

If you like IPS panels, get a Dell U2411. H-IPS and 1920x1200.
Dell also have cheaper e-IPS, the U2311H but at 1080P and 23". Actually Dell has a web sale right now for the U2311H.
Dell monitors come pre-calibrated if you don't have a colorimeter.

A 27" IPS monitor is out of you budget. Though I have to say the 27" 2560x1440, H-IPS panel LG makes is very good. If you want to save money for that because that cost about $700-$1000 depending how much you shop around.

Your other alternative is cheap 27" TN panels. The color quality and viewing angle isn't the best, actually the worst. But the response time and price is low.
The Samsung P2770 or Asus VW266H you been looking at is probably the best.
