So my internet keeps dropping and then quickly reconnecting which can e very frustrating when either playing games or talking to someone through Skype. My computer is connected to the internet via Ethernet. I know it isn't my internet as all other devices stay connected when mine is disconnected. The Ethernet cable I installed myself and I fit the headers on the two ends. I feel like this is where the problem lies and will test by moving my computer downstairs and see if i stay connected using another Ethernet cable. However if anyone could suggest a reason regarding my computer that would be great. One final note when my computer disconnects sometimes it disconnects for up to two minutes and my internet becomes "limited", when I diagnose this problem it sometimes says default gateway not accessible. Does this problem correlate with the Ethernet cable not working?
Thank you for reading that mouthful, I hope to hear some feedback to end this insanity of a problem.

There can be several reasons for the drops in the internet connection - it could be:
1) The router - since the other devices don't disconnect, try switching the ethernet ports.
2) The cable - try replacing the cable with a known good one.
3) The drivers/settings on your PC. Make sure you have the most current drivers for your computer (visit the computer manufacturer's website, and download/install the most current drivers.
4) Computer hardware. It is possible that the ethernet port on the computer is failing. You can purchase a new ethernet adapter (around $10 - $20 at any computer store), and see if that solves the problem. Do the driver updates first....if the drivers are wrong - then the card won't work either....
