[SOLVED] Please help is this GPU upgrade worth it?

Solution
I have a gaming PC that i just recently built & so i like to game
here is the basics
Motherboard: ROG Strix X570X-F Gaming
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor ~3.6GHz (Water cooled by cooler master)
RAM: Ballistix 16GB (two 8gb sticks)
GPU: GEFORCE GTX 1060 3gb (took out old PC)

& my monitor is Predator X34P, 34in (Ultra Widescreen)

Your Ultrawide is a 3440 X 1440 monitor, which as far as the number of pixels it has, it splits the difference between 1440p and 4k.

It's good that you are upgrading your GTX 1060 as that card is not only from two generations ago, it was designed for 1080p (not 1440p or ultrawide 1440p like you have). Problem is, while the 1660 Super is a better card, its only roughly 25% faster on...
Hello all, this is the gpu i currently have.

I was wondering is this card worth the upgrade i have about £300 to play with.

If you could advise any other cards better for the money then please do.
Many thanks,
Ashley.

For what purpose? 1080p ultra at 60fps? If so, the 1660 Super will do you just fine and be the best option cost wise.
It will be a solid upgrade for sure when compared to the 1060 3gb.

Other options:
Vega 56/64 (1440p/60fps/high, vhigh)-- For 1440p @ 60fps ultra the vega 56 might struggle a little bit nowdays.
RTX 2060(S) (1440p/60fps/high, vhigh)

Vega's can be found dirt cheap from the used market atleast in my country. (v56 100-150€ depending on model, v64 120-200€)

Problem is, while the 1660 Super is a better card, its only roughly 25% faster on userbenchmark than your current 1060. That's not a big enough boost; unless you want to play games on low/medium settings and get low fps, you'll need to budget more money for something like a RTX 2060 Super or better.

If you can't afford a more powerful card right now, I would 100% recommend you save your money a bit longer and then buy the card you need to be able to properly drive the nice monitor you have. If you can wait, I'd say buy a RTX 3060/3060 Ti when they become available. That'll have the performance you need, and at a price point hopefully not too much more than your current budget (maybe 400 Euros).

I Will more than likely wait till november & save for the 3060Ti but I just found this https://www.box.co.uk/90YV0D20-M0NA00-ASUS-Rog-Strix-RTX-2060-6GB-OC-Evo-Gamin_2954383.html

What games are you playing and what settings and frame rates do you want to play them at? Because while the RTX 2060 is a great 1080p card and is 1440p-capable, I don't think it'll be very good at your resolution.

Just as an FYI, I own both a RTX 2060 and a RTX 2080 as well as a 27 inch 4k monitor and a 34 inch Ultrawide monitor very similar to yours; I speak from personal experience here.

I hope to play Halo Infinite when it releases next year, so games like that. I have thought about it & i will save for the 3060Ti i was just wondering about that card is all. How much do you think the 3060Ti will cost?

Thank you for your quick response. :)

Sure thing.

Yeah, you'll definitely want a GPU capable of playing Halo Infinite on high settings at the higher refresh rates your monitor is capable of.
