So I recently upgraded from my old fx 8350 to an i5 8600k and I have tried to boot back into my old hardrive, on every boot it crashes from 3-30 minutes into the boot, tried to reinstall but got “windows cannot recognise any local discs” (not sure exactly what it said but something like that) however previously I had ram issues which have now been sorted (would turn on and not post / only recognise 4gb)

Specs:

Cpu: i5 8600k
Mobo: Asus z370 tuf pro
Ram: 8gb of Corsair lpx
Gpu: water cooled gtx 770 (originally twin frozr)
HHDs: two wd blues 1tb 7.2k rpm and an old 250gb at 7.2k rpm (boot drive)
Aio cooler: h75

Thanks for all and any help

Ok whenever you change major hardware such as cpu, you really should reinstall windows. Now, before you attempt to reinstall, get into bios, and make sure your usb and you dvd drive are checked first in boot sequence. Then plug in your usb or dvd or whatever you have windows on, and reboot.
