Hi,
I recently built a new PC for video editing.
Here are the specs.
CPU = Intel Core i7 4770k
CPU Cooler = H100i
Motherboard = Gigabyte UD5H-Z87X
Ram = 32GB Corsair Vengeance.
SSD = Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB
HDD = 4 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB
PSU = Corsair CX 750w
Case = Define R4 White

I recently overclocked the CPU to 4.2GHz this could be the cause but I'm not sure.

Anyway I keep getting a Blue Unhappy Face of Death.

Saying I have encountered an error of something. It then reboots the computer.
I only had enough time to read Kernal_Sercurity_Check_Failure.
It seems to come quite randomly, I haven't noticed any patterns to the crashes.
I have taken the CPU back to 3.5GHz, hopefully that might solve the problem.
I have lost a lot of work to this and really need to get it sorted.
Thank You in Advance

Thanks for your quick reply.
Could overclocking be the cause then????
Thanks

Thanks for your reply.
It pops up randomly, not on the boot.
I am currently using it without the overclock and it hasn't BSOD yet.
So fingers crossed un-overclocking is the fix.
Thank you very much.

The BSOD that you're getting is typically due to an issue with memory, drivers or a virus.

I'm hoping that you're running an up to date virus program so we'll rule that out.

When you overclocked the processor did you overclock the memory too?

Otherwise it's just possible that at 4.2 your processor is having issues communicating with your hardware.

When you went to overclock did you run any kind of stability software (Prime95) to make sure you're CPU is stable at that clock?

I had run it before when I had the CPU at a higher overclock of 4.5GHz but I stopped that overclock due to temps off over 99 degrees when running prime 95.
NB. I am happy with the 3.5 speed, so if that the fix it's not an issue.

Thank you very much for your help so far
