Hey everyone my friend wants me to help him build a PC, his budget is $600. However I have a few questions concerning the build at this price point.

At this price point either the I3 6100 plus the gtx 1060 6GB fits, or the i5 6400 with a gtx 1060 3GB.

So my questions are is it a good idea to pair the 1060 6GB with the I3 6100?
Otherwise is 3GB Vram even enough anymore for 1080p especially considering the power of the card?
Finally would the 1060 even be a good idea for 1080/60, because I know it can hit a lot higher than that on a lot of games.

Thanks for the help and any other ideas are appreciated

If you have windows and you can bend your budget slightly, this may work

Anything 1060 3 GB / Radeon RX 470 upward is fine for 1080p gaming, I'm sure you'll hit medium in a bunch of titles. Most past games don't run more than 2 GB VRAM but cards are getting beefier today because running on Ultra in newer titles at 1080p can take up to 4 I believe, let alone 4K / VR and stuff. But you don't need to worry much about that.
